As China's first farmers‘ city, it is a remarkable example of the transformation of China's agricultural civilisation to industrial civilisation, symbolising the process of farmers’ self-reliance and self-improvement towards modernisation. It concentrates the whole picture of China's change from countryside to city. It is situated in the south of Zhejiang Province, near the estuary of the Whole River, with convenient traffic, neighbouring the East China Sea, bordering with National Highway 104 and Wenfu Railway, east of the East China Sea, and west of the motorway, which is an advantageous geographical position. Agriculture is the pillar industry of Longgang, aquatic products, vegetables and fruits are abundant, aquaculture and planting industry is well developed, providing abundant agricultural products for the neighbouring cities. Rural revitalisation depends on industry, and industrial development depends on characteristics. Every year, more than 1,000 acres of tomatoes in Longgang go red and hit the market. Red tomatoes hanging all over the vine a full and firm, sweet and sour tomatoes, reflecting the ‘red’ persimmon farmers the road to prosperity. 

Operating Philosophy

Agricultural digitisation empowers the road of rural revitalisation with Longgang's characteristics, employment at the doorsteps and return of talents to their hometowns: with ‘special industries’ as the core, it achieves the integration of the three industries and the integration of the production and village: it provides green and organic healthy agricultural products for the general public, and helps to realise the common prosperity under the vision of the community of human destiny. Industry drives employment and employment promotes industry. From field management, picking, sorting, boxing, refrigeration to transport, the ‘Digital Agriculture Innovation Centre’ provides local villagers in Longgang with jobs close to their homes, realising their desire for employment at home, leading to a stable increase in income, and stimulating the enthusiasm of the masses to participate in fruit and vegetable cultivation. Relying on the advantages of agricultural resources and regional resources, the establishment of fruit and vegetable planting professional co-operatives led by the party branch to ‘party branch + co-operatives + farmers’ mode, from seedling selection and breeding, agricultural support, technical services, vegetable sales and other aspects of the farmers to provide efficient and high-quality services, the whole tracking to solve the various problems encountered by farmers in production and operation, to lead the farmers to digital, intelligent, and intelligent, and to provide the farmers with the most effective and efficient services. Lead farmers to take the digital, intelligent, industrialisation of the road to prosperity.

Inspiration and Concept

The agricultural development of the city of Longgang inspired the design team to incorporate four key values: foresight, science, efficiency and harmony in order to properly reflect the value of a digital, multifunctional project in an urban area and as a place for people to gather. Activating the space through digitalisation enables a dialogue between the traditional and the future. Our design embraces ancient Eastern philosophies that look to science and humanity, and presents them in a modern way.
