Poon Seng Soo Elected as Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)

     The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has authorised POA founder Poon Seng Soo to be an AIA Associate Member. This AIA Associate Membership is used to recognise architects who have made outstanding contributions to the architectural community worldwide. In their selection comments, the judges noted that at age 35, Pan Chengshou has boldly realised his ideas in an era of China's rise and has rapidly matured, and that his work represents China's embrace of both individual imagination and national strength.

     The American Institute of Architects (AIA), whose 67-year history has witnessed the development of the world's architectural art, culture, and craftsmanship, aims to: promote members to be more scientific and pragmatic, to improve the level of architectural design, and to safeguard the professional standards of architects.

Architects who have received membership in the past include I.M. Pei, Alexander Jackson Davis, Thomas Jefferson, Frank Wright, Louis Sullivan, Cesar Perry, Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Richard Fowler, and Ricardo Legretta.

     The AIA sets stringent standards of professional excellence for architects. Becoming an Associate Member of the AIA is a great affirmation and recognition of an architect's professional competence, and demonstrates a commitment to the profession's Code of Conduct, reflecting a strong vision for the continued development of architects in the profession.
