POA Architects announces the design of the East 31st Street Apartments in Wenzhou. This is POA's second urban renewal project in Wenzhou after Oulian Plaza.

Wenzhou city territory ancient for ou land, also known as east ou, taining yuan year (323 years) to build county, for yongjia county, legend built county city when there are white deer flowers around the city week, so the name deer city. Shangyuan two years (675 years) began to call wenzhou, has more than 2000 years of history of the city. Wenzhou city terrain from the southwest to the northeast showing a trapezoidal tilt, the terrain is mainly mountainous hills, the coast is winding, many good harbours, for the mid-subtropical monsoon climate zone, humid and rainy. Wenzhou City is a national historical and cultural city, known as the ‘Southeast landscape A world’ reputation.

‘East 31st Street Apartment’ is located in the General Bridge Xinghai Road No. 31 was Ouhai District People's Government of the implementation of entrepreneurial management of the national institutions “Ouhai Hotel”, founded in August 1987, in October 2003 by the China Hotel Association as AAA level China Green Hotel AAA level China green hotel, in 2006 the hotel to spend a huge amount of money to be rebuilt, decorated, reopened, and was rated as ‘three-star’ tourism and foreign hotels. The owner of ‘East 31st Street Apartment’, Ouhai District Government, hopes to achieve the goal of enhancing the cultural connection of Ouhai city through this project.POA's design starts from respecting the regional and historical nature of the building, retaining the original hotel structure that carries the city's memories, and updating the city façade with a simple façade, where the new and the old collide, and have a dialogue, Collision, dialogue, and continuity between the old and the new take place here.

‘We wanted this project to highlight Wenzhou's respect for history and culture, as well as its tolerance of global multiculturalism, so we made only minor changes to the original building. Along the streets of the site, POA designed a high-line eco-park with a continuous commercial interface on the ground floor and a roof that rises from the ground level, providing a seamless connection to the neighbourhood. The design of the High Line Park continues the urban fabric of the park site to the north, with a natural vein of undulating highs and lows, as gentle as flowing water. The High Line Park is presented in the form of earth art, accepting people from all directions and providing a place for people to play, rest and gather.
